Hey,
I have noticed how your portal links to different posts and then shows recent posts etc.. (In center blocks).

I think it will be a good idea to add feature where users can select a board posts will be selected from but instead of linking to each it will show the whole post on the portal.

And board administrators can select how many posts to be shown at once?

Well we could have previews of what the topic says, but we can't try to include the whole post because you never know how many characters it will have. Say someone decided to post something 2K characters long, that would take up a lot of space, which is probably something most board admins don't want happening.

All we can tell you now that this is currently planned, but not yet implemented. The board id that the news will be grabbed from and the number of topics that the module will grab, will be configurable.

It is also planned that the user will be able to configure the way the site news is displayed, either being the default format (as you see now) or article format (as seen in ssi_boardNews).

Thanks for your interest in Dream Portal, and we hope to make these "Dreams" come true.

@Hadesflames - A resolution of that is:
a) Having scroll bar - It will display a large/good amount and then the rest will be under a scroll bar (Kind of like how you have to scroll down this forum index to see the boards at the bottom)
Or:
b) The admin can select how many charaters it should display, after this it will say 'Click here to read the full post'

Or something like this?

@Tyty1234 - Nice to see it is planned :)

Just think of it like ssi_boardNews, but the topic will be trimmed down.

With an added "..." or "read more" link at the bottom to signify it was cut.

The only problem with this is that many systems have a hard time cutting it in the middle of a bbcode so stuff ends up getting cut off and looking like "[url=http://website....". If there was a way to just use max_height and have a scrollbar and show the whole post, wouldn't that be a better option.. Unless we can find a way to filter out the cut off bbcode at the end.

Yeah, basically the News Module already does this for Topics in a board.  So, it would be very much like that module, cept show posts and have a vertical scrollbar for it if it exceeds the height allowed for modules.

Cheers :)

Yes, there is a way to filter out the BBcode with using the right php conditions. :)

Excuse me, but why not just use a vertical scrollbar instead and the horizontal scrollbar disabled?  That would be better IMO.  That way it still shows all of the post.  And for quote and code BBC we can place this into a <div> tag and control it's width that way hopefully.

sounds like what I said, show the whole post but give it a max-height and overflow.. Another option is to hide some of it, and when they click read more it doesn't redirect, but just expands into the rest of the post. Just some ideas :)

I guess doing it both ways is possible. We might need to make this a parameter inside a parameter too.
