Team Blog / DP 1.1 Module Screenshots & Descriptions
« Last post by SoLoGHoST on April 21, 2012, 02:27:36 PM »
Ok, so Dream Portal 1.1, as you all know, is out for our Charter Members.  But I feel that the rest of you are sorta in the dark on what Dream Portal 1.1 has to offer as far as modules go.  So, I decided to put together a topic that will discuss Dream Portal 1.1 Modules and provide screenshots of them just so everyone can get an idea of what type of modules are out there and what is possible to do for modules in DP 1.1.  This topic may or may not include all modules for Dream Portal 1.1, but atleast it should give you an idea of what types of modules have been created thus far and some information on these modules as well.

Cheers :)

Well, I just finished another module that is available for DP 1.1 - Polaroid Attachments ;)  In any case, nice blog post.  Been awol from the DP.net site lately, but with good cause... the more time I'm at the site, the less time I have to code, but I try to do both anyways...

Team Blog / April 21, 2012

So here we are again. Time for another Blog update! I hoped everyone enjoyed "April Fools Day" and "Easter" for those that celebrate it, I know I did.

Development
There isn't much to report here. We have released DP 1.1RC1 to Charter Members as you know and we have had several charter members and so far everyone is happy. Only one very minor bug has been reported(DP copyright in custom themes), and this has already been fixed for DP 1.1 RC2. We also already submitted DP 1.1 RC1 to Simple Machines Forum. We have been waiting on feedback now for about 3-4 weeks. When SMF approves it, that's when we will release DP to the public as a stable release. In the meantime, we intend keep it for Charter Members...

Modules
As far as Modules go, I think we are at 40 modules now. That's 3 more since our last Blog post I think. I also have a handful that are about 80% complete, but just lack time to finish them up at the moment. I just now got done doing a Top Karma module by request from a Charter Member. The Top Karma module shows user's ranging from most karma, to the least karma. In the module admin, you can select how many user's you want to show, and whether or not to show user avatars.

Developers
We lost a developer since our last blog post: Labradoodle-360. I really don't know what happened here. He was here, then 3 days later he deleted his account without explanation or cause and has ignoring us ever since. As far as I know there was no fight, argument, or disagreement that took place. He just disappeared like one of those vampires in the movie "Blade" that get stabbed in the heart and "poof". Labradoole-360 is the main mod approver at SMF, and so I hope we get treated fairly. That is my only worry at this point with the whole situation with him.

Finances
Are are still in need of donations or Charter Subscriptions to pay for server costs. We'll take whatever you got, lol.

Until next time...

IE 10 is fixing to come out and it will have full support for it. Opera is the only browser ATM that doesn't have big plans for it.

Tell me about it.  Currently only Safari and Chrome support it.  Firefox is starting to support it a bit, but not really.  IE is crap, and Opera doesn't support it at all currently...

ARGG!!!

I have to say I'm pretty excited about HTML5 and CSS3! I've been looking into and have seen some pretty amazing things being done with it. It means less javascript, cleaner code, and more mobile friendly. I wish everyone would get on-board already with it and start pushing it.

Yeah, well it sure opens up a world of imagination and possibilities for templating modules.

Yes, it really is a piece of cake creating templates, though currently Dream Portal gives too much control to the Template Author when creating templates.  The advantage of this, is that the template basically decides what gets put and where...  That is to say, you can even create a template that has the header at the bottom with the module content above it.  But there is even more you can do... such as not show the module code at all when using this template, and show something altogether different.  Templates can even act as Modules for real for real...

There is no real limit to what a template can even do, but it might be too much control to give to templates, because they can even OVERRIDE some of Dream Portal's settings.  Basically, any settings that pertain to modules can be overridden via a template...

Dude, I never really realize how easy this is to make templates. I was always too busy testing or making modules. I reckon now I need to make some templates.

I will create another post for the transparent with out padding package.
