Thanks! I have visited that site multiple times now, but I can't figure out what it is about. Could you shed some light over it?

Sure :) Youth with a Mission is a international Christian organisation, mainly for young people ;) I was asked to make their new website (which I am currently working on) and I started playing around with the idea of putting a forum up too...at first I tried PhpBB, which I found pretty dull and not too easy to customize :p So when I installed SMF and got the DP on it as well things started to look a whole lot better! :)

The forum will mainly be for sharing information between students, staff and the different ministries :) but most of it is open for the public as well :)

The main web site (a work in progress) here explains a little more about YWAM :)

http://ywamkyiv.org/test/index.shtml

Both the forum and website will be launched sometime during next week, so I will be pretty busy for a week now :)

I just found royalty free(I hope :p) pictures on the web, tweaked the colors a bit and made a flash out of them :) Hopefully I will be done with the whole site until the launch day :p

Did you make that site from scratch yourself? It's looking good!

Thanks :) Yeah, from scratch :) For a couple of years now I didn't make any web sites, so I was a bit rusty when I started coding again :p and previously I used to make them in ASP.NET for Microsoft servers. This time I used Ajax a lot to gain some of the functionality which was both fun and challenging ;)

Sounds good! You could actually create an theme for smf the same way, and then integrate it into the main site... That would look extremely cool!

Yeah! I was thinking about something similar to that...I guess if I knew about the SMF and DP before I started making the website I would have tried to do things a bit different from the beginning :/ but anyways now I have something to keep my brain occupied for the next few months :p

I used to partake in coding Mods for phpBB and yeah, it was definitely NOT a user-friendly environment for these things, at least IMHO.  Wish I would've found out about SMF much sooner.  But hey, back than SMF really wasn't that well established as it is now either.  But, would've loved to be a part of the original team that helped it get up and running.

I have to say that I love the SMF Package Manager and the power it gives you to customize SMF anyway you want.  That, IMO, is probably the most important thing about SMF that makes it the most fun to code for.  And that is what helped extend SMF into what it is today, for both coders and theme developers.  That is what we are trying to do with Dream Portal, allow it to be very easily expandable, with Custom Modules that can be coded and extended upon.

I am a 33 yr. old Christian myself.  Haven't gone to church in a while with all of the non-free time I have.  But I definitely say my prayers and worship god in my very little free time and the time I have with my daughter, who is only 3 yrs. old.  I teach her about god and about jesus and she teaches me even more.  That there is hope and love in this world and reminds me that life is worth living.  We are 2 peas in a pod.

Anyways, in short, Great Site and love what you did with Dream Portal.

phpBB does have some nice features but, like you've said, adding mods and fixing the broken ones has always been a pain. Same for themes. I still test it every so often to see what new features it has. The guest permissions are really cool. You can make guests and spiders act just like regular users and have more control over them than SMF. I was glad to see SMF has started to implement some of those features.

Kids will change your life, for the better. Trust me, but it won't be easy. One kids isn't that bad, but 2 or more under the same roof will drive you nuts without help.

The most important thing is a child needs a stable home. If you move alot, lack $$$, or you and the mrs are always fighting and might not last, you will almost regret having children. I once was a single father for 4 years.

It truly does have an effect on their psychological profile that they never grow out of until they marry themselves, if they ever do.

Also, they are expensive, but worth every penny. In my opinion, having kids at a younger age is better than having them at later ages. So I tried to have mine early in life(before 30), but that's just me.

When having children, you begin to see how they develop, and why you turned out the way you did(if your paying attention). You'll become passionate about their life, and grow a heart about 3 times bigger than the one you have, which can be hard to adjust to for some, lol.

If I had billions of $$$, I would have as many kids as I possibly could. For now, I must stick with 2 and no more.

Nice site and good luck. Sorry for the off-topic.

It's nice, but you should change the theme.
