Could it be that the shoutbox is conflicting with the new SMF 2.0.1?

It's certainly possible.

In regards to the issue I saw was, in the package manager there were 2 Dream Portal 1.0.5 packages actually "installed". I don't see how that could have happened, but it certainly needs to be fixed.

So how schould i fix it?

First, make a back-up of your site in case something goes wrong, so you can restore it. To back up, download all your files & folders from your forum root. Then go to your myphpadmin and export your database.

Second, go to your package manager and uninstall Dream Portal(both of them), and delete packages(both of them). Download a fresh package from this site and install it.

If you are still unsure what to do, then I recommend wiping everything out since it's not public anyway. Drop tables in your database and delete all files. Then do a fresh install of everything. Be sure to still do a backup first, just in case.

You're going to want to look at your php error log. You can usually find that in cPanel or whatever control panel your host offers. If you can't find it, you'll have to contact your host about helping you find it. Once you do, post what the php error log shows around the time you made posts in the shoutbox. You'll find the problem will have something to do with AJAX not being able to fetch the shouts.
